Anima Eterna chamber project ‘Insight-America!’ in Maasmechelen & Brugge

Anima Eterna travels to the New World, with American compositions for orchestra from the 1930s and 1940s. Masterpiece of the evening is the ballet Appalachian Spring, written by Aaron Copland for choreographer Martha Graham; he found the title in a poem by Hart Crane. The score earned him one of the first Pulitzer Prizes for Music. The original version performed by Anima Eterna is for a chamber orchestra of thirteen musicians. Especially for the occasion, Bruges’ top talent, pianist Alexander Declercq, joins the musicians of our house orchestra. Varied storyteller Olav Grondelaers unravels the stories behind the score.
