The superb players of the Dresden Festival Orchestra come from many European cities, including Vienna, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Freiburg, and London. All players are experts for ‘performance practice’ and play on period instruments. Hearing Beethoven’s Symphonies on the instruments of his time is a rare pleasure. The experience brings us closer to the sound of the world premiere of these works and helps us understand the emotions and motivations behind those genius creations. The wonderful Catalan conductor Josep Caballe-Domenech is familiar with this very special orchestra, having conducted the group on tour and in Dresden during the Festival.
